HER review
I took my niece & nephew to see Despicable Me 3D as I had been wooed by the marketing for months before its release! I must admit that I actually thought it might be a little more adult than it was, like Toy Story 3, but it was very much a kids film. There were a couple of jokes that only the adults would have got however. Steve Carell was the voice of Gru and he was really well suited to the character. The storyline was very cute and heart warming and the kids loved the minions! An interesting observation came from my 7yr old niece… “Are you sure this is really 3D?” I think her expectation was that things were going to fly out of the screen! Although that would have freaked her out I could still sense a slight disappointment from her tone… and yes I had wondered myself what the value of the 3D version really was. I would have chosen the 2D version had it not been for the fact that on a Sunday the only reasonable time slots were only being shown in 3D. Clever marketing indeed!
