Dinner for Schmucks - Movie Review

When he finds out that his work superiors host a dinner celebrating the idiocy of their guests, a rising executive questions it when he’s invited, just as he befriends a man who would be the perfect guest. {official site}

HIS review
Please don’t watch this! It’s terrible. I can’t really think of anything positive to say about it really. Oh wait, there’s two things that were decent. They were named Zach Galifianakis and Jemaine Clement, who were both quite funny, but didn’t come close to saving the film. Steve Carell does nothing but try and be annoying (and succeeds!), while Paul Rudd does his usual thing. I actually don’t mind Paul Rudd, but I’ve come to realise the success of movies he stars in is completely dependant on his co-stars. Did I mention not to watch this movie?

HER review

Another comedy I wasn’t impressed with! It was a real shame that most of the film was a build up to the dinner because the dinner was the funniest part, and that was just a quarter of the film. Steve Carell didn’t play a convincing character and even Paul Rudd was a little weak. The standouts for me were the little-known kiwi actor Jemaine Clement as Kieran and Zach Galifianakis as Therman, both had me laughing. I think most people in the cinema had the same view as I overheard many people on the way out saying that it was disappointing. Don’t bother paying to see this at the cinema!
